Volkswagen is the main mobility partner of the Prague Zoo
The Volkswagen passenger car brand has become a partner of the Prague Zoo. The new collaboration underscores Volkswagen’s efforts to protect the environment as part of its Way to Zero sustainable mobility strategy. Volkswagen offers many years of experience from its activities in the Czech Republic and in cooperation with the Prague Zoo will focus primarily on families with children.
“I am really pleased with our new partnership with the Prague Zoo, it is based on the common interest of protecting our planet and all life, as there is a fantastic exhibition and pavilion. We are looking forward to cooperation and we are honored to support this place, which is a popular destination for families and all nature lovers. Especially for families with children, we want to create an even more beautiful environment in the zoo, in which they will be able to spend time together, ”says Patrik Fejtek, Director of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars Division at Porsche Czech Republic.
We go in it together
As part of the new project “Let’s go in this together”, the Volkswagen brand of passenger cars at the zoo will, among other things, contribute to the preparation of facilities for families with children. Young and old can look forward to new rest areas and a special event for the public – from new children’s days through baptisms to the grand opening of the pavilions. At the same time, Volkswagen intends to use the rich experience from its other activities in the Czech Republic, which are support for running in partnership with RunCzech or cooperation with the Petr Čech football school.
Last but not least, Volkswagen will, of course, provide the zoo with passenger cars and thus become a major mobility partner. Volkswagen cars will be used not only for the working purposes of the zoo management, but they are also ready to assist in the necessary transport of animals with a special trailer.
The Volkswagen partnership was officially announced on Saturday, March 26. 2022 on the occasion of the opening of the new, already 91st season of the Prague Zoo. As part of a rich accompanying program, the director of the Volkswagen division, Patrik Fejtek, was honored to baptize, together with zoo director Miroslav Bobek and deputy mayor of Prague Petr Hlubuček, the latest addition from the second primate, the silver gibbon. The four-month-old male endangered species of gibbon, which is endemic to the island of Java, was named Claire. Everyone present wished him good health. During the 91st season, other important events await the zoo, such as the arrival of a pair of rare and endangered short-tailed legumes or the opening of a new gorilla pavilion, which is being prepared for the end of September. Volkswagen will now be at all important moments.

Prague Zoo is a contributory organization, the founder of which is the City of Prague. It first opened its gates to the public in 1931 and currently covers 58 hectares, home to almost 700 species of animals. Prague Zoo has long been the most visited zoo in the Czech Republic – more than 1.3 million people visit it every year – and great recognition is already gaining abroad. In addition to animal husbandry, zoo experts are also involved in protecting animals at their natural habitats.
