Damage of almost 100 million lei to the Moldovan Railway. Prosecutors announce that they have completed the criminal investigation on a charge in the “CFM” case – Ziarul de Garda
The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) has completed the criminal investigation on a charge in the case of embezzlement from the State Railway Company of Moldova (CFM), which targets a person from the administration, in the period 2018-2019, announces Attorney General’s Office in a press release.
“Prosecutors accuse the person in fact that, as a result of exceeding his duties, the company did not collect revenues of almost 800 million lei: for the period of 2018 no more than 400 million lei were collected, and for 2019 – over 370 million lei. This fact, in turn, did not allow to cover the internal losses registered by CFM from other imposed activities, which caused to the company’s patrimony damages in considerable proportions, of almost 100 million lei, resulting from the net losses for the period 2018 in the amount of over 73 “million lei, and for 2019 – over 26 million lei”, it is shown in a communiqué at the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases states that The accused is a member of the investigated and complicit criminal organization of the former CFM chief, who is to be extradited from Belgium, after the Belgian first instance court rejected his challenge to extradition, so now the appellate court is to rule. Exceeding the duties of the service for which the accused referred to in this indictment is being investigated is related to the illegal reduction of tariffs.
During the criminal investigation, the PCCOCS prosecutors, together with the employees of the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Property, identified and seized movable and immovable property of both the accused and the family members. The total value of the seizures applied exceeds the amount of eight million lei.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, he intends for the prosecutors to present to the parties the material material for the criminal investigation for information, so that he can later be sent to court, during which time the accused takes advantage of the presumption of innocence, according to the law. As for the basic case, the prosecution continues.
