Construction of the city ring could begin in five years, says the deputy
The planned section of the circuit will connect to the Blanka tunnel in Pelc-Tyrolka and will lead through Balabenka, below Třešňovka to Jarov towards Spojovací and via Štěrboholská radial it will connect to the South Junction.
It can be built: the metro line D from Pankrác to Písnice will eventually be created
According to Hlaváček, it is important that there is a consensus with the affected city districts on the tunnel variant. “When we finished it a year and a half ago, the city districts accepted it with gratitude. If there was no support from them, the probability that they would stand up would be terribly low. Other actors such as owners or activist associations are no longer involved, “the deputy explained at the seminar of the Chamber of Commerce of the Capital City of Prague.
Steps to a building permit
The documentation for the zoning decision is now ready and the municipality is ready to start the process of its settlement, which could take about a year. This will be followed by steps towards a building permit.
According to the original considerations, the Blanka 2 section, which was still called Vlasta, was supposed to lead halfway across the surface. However, this option has not been discussed. In the autumn of 2019, Prague councilors approved the deepening of the underground, the benefit of which is to calm traffic on the surface.
“Prague fell asleep – when the Blanka tunnel was being built, Vlasta was already preparing for the design. Unfortunately, this did not happen, “says Chief Designer David Krása, Metroprojekt’s director. According to him, he has a project for several project offices and architects under the leadership of the former mayor, architect Jan Kasla. “The tunnel variant should disturb its surroundings as little as possible. It’s more expensive than it is on the surface, but it’s a solution that looks 30 or 50 years ahead, “said Krása.
According to experts, however, the real benefit of the city ring will be enjoyed by Prague only when the entire system, including all radials and the Prague ring road, which is being built by the Ministry of Transport, is ready.
Another transformation of the Kajetánka area in Břevnov: new apartment buildings will be built there
“It simply came to our notice then. When the whole thing is done, it will be very durable. The misfortune of the current system is that the inner circle is built by Prague and the outer state. They need to follow each other. Unfortunately, Prague bears this inherited sin, “said Zdeněk Votruba from the Transport Faculty of the Czech Technical University, stating that the connection with public transport and intercepting car parks must also work.
Political support is needed
According to him, it is a fundamental mistake that large infrastructure buildings do not have political protection throughout the construction period. “Political support is needed, the building needs its godfather – in a good way. This is how Adam Scheinherr, for example, performs at metro D. The projects in our country cannot do without this patronage. There is no coordination of constructions, no one has arranged cooperation between the outer and inner circuit and the radial, “said Votruba.
According to the designers, this system is common abroad. “In the UK, a law on a major project is passed, her queen is signed, and then she looks at it with some loyalty. We designers are not enough for that on our own, we need a politician to do it, so that he can load the project on his back and bring it to the finish line, “said Krása.
