Water supplies in Prague 13 could resume on Thursday. Firefighters offer their tanks iROZHLAS
Drinking water supplies in Prague 13 could be resumed on Thursday. Prague Water Supply and Sewerage informed about it on the website. The cause of the accident was probably fatigue of the material, said the organization’s spokesman Tomáš Mrázek. Due to the failure of the water supply lines in Líšnická Street in Prague 13, approximately 77,000 customers in the localities of Jinonice, Stodůlek, Ořech, Řeporyj, Zadní Kopaniny and parts of Prague 13 found themselves without water supplies.

“There is a cistern in Mládí Street in Stodůlky, where about ten people stand. They refuel water in canisters, but also in plastic and glass bottles. One gentleman even brought a five-liter container of liquids, which is poured into the car washers, “said Radio Duchurn reporter Radek Duchoň at noon.
The reconstruction of the pipeline after the accident should start on Wednesday evening. “If everything goes according to plan, the earthworks will continue and assembly work will begin in the evening,” said Mrázek. According to him, the water supply lines in the western part of Prague will then start filling on Thursday at 12.00.
“Start of filling,… gradual resumption of water supply during 31 March,” he says on the website Prague water supply and sewerage.
Due to the scale of the accident, Prague Waterworks and Sewerage had to borrow three tanks from Kladno’s waterworks and others should arrive from Teplice. They will have another six tanks available from the fire brigade, which will distribute only service water. “In the case of the photo, other tanks are ready, including help from volunteer fire brigades,” the fire brigade said on Twitter.
The cause of the accident of the 800 and 600 millimeter diameters was probably material fatigue. The first dates from 1982 and the second from 1989.
Due to the interrupted water supply, some schools and kindergartens or offices remained closed. The Řeporyj town hall announced on its Facebook profile that schools and kindergartens remain closed, and the town hall is also closed. According to its website, the building of the City Hall of Prague 13 will remain closed until further notice. Some schools and kindergartens have also announced director’s leave in this part of the city.
