The six will provide students with a safe path to class. Create an pedestrian zone in Nechanského Street for an hour Prague 6 | From the region Pražská Drbna
The City Hall of Prague 6 decided to set up a school street with a pedestrian zone at the Na Dlouhém lánu primary school in Vokovice for one hour in the morning. Children will not endanger cars on the way to the benches.
Proven tactics
Nechanského Street, from which the school is entered, changes every morning from Monday to April 4, from half past seven to half past eight. This will be used not only by schoolchildren, but also by parents and children of the neighboring kindergartens Čtyřlístek and Na Dlouhém lánu. The entry ban is announced by traffic signs and demarcated traffic cones.
According to the town hall, there were chaotic and risky situations in the street in the morning caused by the cars that the parents used to take the children to school. So for a step that he has already decided to show up at another institution in the city district.
“This is already the second school street in Prague 6. The first was established in the school year at the Na Hanspaulce primary school, and after the end of the probationary period, most parents were in favor of a permanent adjustment. I believe that traffic congestion at this school will also reduce traffic safety and make children more safe, ” said in a press release the deputy mayor for transport Jiří Lála.
Parents and children wanted a change
The best school interviewed the children themselves and the parents. The results of the survey showed that almost half of the children consider the morning traffic before school unpleasant, 58 percent of parents welcomed safer pedestrians and almost the same number of parents also calmed down traffic regardless of the school’s surroundings. Nechanského Street was one of the most frequently mentioned places that marked children as dangerous.
For parents who bring children by car, parking spaces will be reserved in Na Dlouhém lánu Street, or they will be able to use the free parking capacity in the area.
