The contributory organization of the Prague City Hall The Services of the Capital City of Prague has a new warehouse worth 74.4 million crowns, which now uses the storage of food aid for refugees from Ukraine. After the end of the refugee crisis, it will be used mainly to store supplies for flood protection.
They deliver ten tons of aid every day
Until now, the service administration used the nearby former garages as a warehouse, where supplies are now still stored, which will be moved to a new building with 750 square meters of warehouse space in the future. So far, it serves as a central warehouse for food delivery to the refugee assistance center in the Congress Center, accommodation facilities and other places.
“We may have a few tons of food here,” said the director Tomáš Stařecký. Up to ten tons of aid are delivered daily from the warehouse in the service administration area in Kundratka. In addition to food, there are hygiene needs. In the warehouse, employees work shifts from 8 am to 8 pm, outside these hours, emergency services are provided on the phone, so deliveries can operate non-stop.
Includes a container for 33 pallets of food
The new warehouse has been operating for several weeks, and in the future the organization will stock up the current stocks that it must have available in the event of a flood. Design work on the new building began in 2016, the construction was completed last year at the end of this year and was approved at the beginning of this year.
The City of Technology of the Capital City of Prague also purchased a large-capacity container for food storage, which is located next to the new warehouse. The company’s vice-chairman Tomáš Novotný announced that the container had been imported from the Netherlands and could hold 33 pallets of food with a shorter shelf life. It can also be used for other purposes, such as storing covid-19 vaccine.
The service administration in the metropolis serves as a support organization for the integrated rescue system and crisis management. It manages most fixed and mobile flood defenses and takes care of civil defense shelters. In addition, it also provides towing vehicles and operates parking lots. The service administration has also been involved in addressing the covid-19 epidemic. Disinfectants, antigen tests, drapes, and respirators were delivered from there.
They are completing the second building for sixty million
The service administration is also completing other buildings for approximately 60 million crowns on its premises in Dubč. “Currently, we are carrying out the construction of an administrative building there, which will also serve as a background for employees and at the same time as a training center and various components involved in flood control measures.” said operating square Libor Kousal. Deputy Mayor Petr Hlubuček (STAN) added that the building should be approved in a number of weeks.
