This is how the construction of the section of the Budapest-Balaton cycle path connected to Lake Velence is progressing – Photos
At the end of 2021 we wrote a comprehensive article on NIF National Infrastructure Development Ltd. (NIF) on the construction of a 108 km long Budapest – Lake Balaton cycling route in the course of its investment. The 17.5 km section between Tordas and Venice is a SWIETELSKY Magyarország Kft. from a nearly net HUF 1.9 billion domestic budget source.
The project will build a cycle path between Tordas and Venice as follows:
- 9.1 km of mixed agricultural and cycling sections,
- a new independent cycle path section will be built for almost 2 km,
- and 6.4 km of traffic interventions are carried out.
In Pázmánd, a 6-meter-free bicycle bridge will be built above the Bágyom River.
Above the M7 motorway, the cycle path is crossed by the existing pedestrian-cycle bridge, which eventually joins the cycle path around Lake Venice.
The handover of the section is expected in the summer of 2022
Construction began in the summer of 2021. During the winter, the weather made construction difficult. According to SWIETELSKY, the works are currently 65% ready: bridge, water, embankment and bedding, as well as frost protection and asphalting.
The handover is expected in the second quarter of 2022, by which time the asphalting, hydraulic engineering, frost protection layer and bedding construction works are left, and landscaping, grassing and traffic engineering interventions will be carried out.
The hydrants were rebuilt, the communication wire poles and the electrical poles relocated and rebuilt. Public lighting works for Kajászó, Pázmánd and Venice will also be carried out shortly.
