Trolleybuses to the Elbe are in the process again, the line is to be built from next year
The Regional Administration and Road Maintenance of the Central Bohemian Region again sent a plan for the construction of a trolleybus line from Prague to Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This is the second attempt, the first documentation of the region last autumn withdrew from the EIA process.

“The documentation reflects the comments of the affected municipalities and the requirements arising from the EIA discussions last year. We have reached a compromise solution that optimizes the entire technical solution so that the intervention in the urban area of the municipalities is minimized, “said Petr Borecký, Regional Councilor for Transport.
The region presents the project as electrification of today’s bus line 375. Trolleys will not be in the entire route, the line will be provided by electric buses (partial trolleybuses), which will be recharged while driving in trolley sections. Construction is expected to begin next year, ending in 2025.
Prague has chosen trolleybuses. Will they travel to Central Bohemia one day?
At the same time, there are uncertainties in the documentation around the length of the oiled sections. The EIA documentation submitted last year is total (a total of 16.9 kilometers from the length of 22 kilometers under the trolley (in the direction Prague – Brandýs na LabemStará Boleslav) and 15.3 kilometers in the direction Brandýs na Labem-Stará Boleslav – Prague).
The current documentation states the same numbers in one place, but elsewhere it speaks of the installation of trolleys with a total length of 12.65 kilometers (in the direction of Prague – Brandýs na Labem-Stará Boleslav) and 11.54 kilometers (in the direction of Brandýs na Labem-Stará Boleslav – Prague ). The daily Zdopravy.cz finds out the real state of affairs. The overhead contact line will be installed up to the railway station in Stará Boleslav.
The municipalities rejected the introduction of trolleybuses. The region has retreated, leaving the plan
It was the trolleys and their management through the municipalities that had already thwarted one plan for a new trolleybus line. Last year, the Central Bohemian Region withdrew from the introduction of trolleybus transport from Prague to Kostelec nad Labem. He did not want to proceed against the will of the municipalities on the route, which did not agree with the plan. The currently submitted EIA documentation for Brandýs still mentions the route to Kostelec nad Labem among the considered projects.
