Liverpool, National Team | Andreas Schjelderup (17) said no to Liverpool
In the summer of 2020, Schjelderup left the childhood club Bodø / Glimt, in favor of North Zealand in the Danish Super League. Already in February 2021 he got his first match, just 16 years old. Since then, there have been a total of 36 matches, six goals and four assists for the offensive midfielder, who is referred to as one of the greatest talents in Europe.
Considering North Zealand’s history of producing good talent, it may not be nice at Schjelderup, which is part of the club. Some of the players North Zealand has sold in recent years are Kamaldeen Sulemana (Rennes), Mohammed Kudus (Ajax) and Mikkel Damsgaard (Sampdoria).

Before Schjelderup signed for Danish, Bayern Munich and Juventus were also possible destinations, as he was on trial in these clubs, writes Liverpool Echo.
Wanted first team football
In an interview with Goal tells Schjelderup that he chose to say no to Liverpool, in favor of first-team football in Denmark.
– It was of course a bit difficult to reject Liverpool, because when you grow up you see the big names, and when you hear that they want you, thoughts start to swirl.

Schjelderup, on the other hand, is confident in his case that he made the right choice.
– It hurts a little in my and my father’s hearts, but I went here instead of playing on a U19 or U17 team. When I signed for North Zealand, I started on the U19 team, but I knew that when the time was right I would be able to take the step up to the A team.
Enormous development
Schjelderup goes on to say that the club did not expect him to make such big increases as fast as he has done, but that he himself was always the plan.
– Maybe I can go to a big club in the future. In the long run, regardless of North Zealand was the right choice for me. When I’m ready, I’m taking the next step.
Nettavisens visited the talent and his club Nordsjælland last autumn, and they could tell about an early fascination for the player:
Goal writes that Schjelderup has compared with Jack Grealish, and Schjelderup himself sees some of the similarities.
– I’m an offensive player who likes to have the ball, so I can understand why someone draws that comparison. Men to help the team I will get a number of goals and assist.
The 2004 model has been an important piece for the team that has worn this season. The midfielder stands with four goal points in 19 games, for the team from the small place Farum on the outside of Copenhagen.
