An adventurous journey for animals that people overlooked in Prague – Planeta Praha has a sample (teaser)
An adventurous journey and getting to know the “inhabitants” of Prague, which people have so far overlooked, who the authors of the new and unique feature documentary Planet Prague with animal heroes in the lead role. For a total of two years, filmmakers in the bustling metropolis often watched the sights of the “Prague wilderness”. Petřín, the banks of the Vltava, Charles Bridge and Stromovka Park, as well as remote peripheries, are captured in the film as homes of many diverse animals. The creators are now publishing the first official demo.
The nature of Prague is much richer than you can imagine, shows a new unique documentary from the creators of the successful film Planet Czechia. The actor commented on the film Planet Prague Jiří Macháček, the film will enter theaters on July 28.
Like the previous documentary Planeta Česko with hundreds of thousands of cinema attendances, millions of television premieres and a number of film awards, including nominations for the Best European Documentary Film for Children and Youth (ECFA Award 2018), Planeta Praha is intended for audiences of all ages and families. The exciting spectacle of the Prague microcosm is behind the experienced film crew of director Jan Hošek, producer Radim Procházka and cinematographer Jiří Petr.
“Our main expert advisor, biologist Ondřej Sedláček, says with exaggeration that the Prague National Park should be declared. The urban landscape is more colorful than the landscape beyond the city. one of the ,no‘ is the fact that Prague is the place with the largest number of plant species in the Czech Republic, “ he says producer Radim Procházka, for him, a film about wild animals in his place is a dream come true.
Through animal heroes, Planeta Praha will offer a completely new view of places in Prague where one would hardly expect a real wilderness. The green-footed booby bravely nestled in the sludge tank of the Bubeneč sewage treatment plant, the peregrine falcon for changing the nest on the chimney in Holešovice, the male mouflon duel takes place in the Thomayer Hospital in Krč. Few would have guessed that Petřín, an island of greenery in the heart of the capital, is the exclusive home of the Great Dormouse, which may have lived here before humans, and the Slatina Reservoir in Dubč serves as a nokial deposit for hundreds of thousands of Central Bohemian starlings. A relentless battle for food takes place in the Troja Zoo, where gray herons fly secretly to lunch. And then there is the never-freezing Vltava in Prague, because of which some birds stopped migrating to the south.
Thanks to the most modern Planeta Praha technologies, I will present to the audience, in addition to other animals, also representatives of the plant kingdom or, for example, an exotic mushroom with red tentacles, Archer’s flower. Thanks to the fact that the filmmakers shot gradually in all seasons, they managed to capture the entire life cycle of the animals. A total of ten different types of recording devices were used for recording, including a thermal camera or an infrared camera.
“The aim of the film Planet Prague is to inspire viewers to discover the stories of our close animal neighbors, whom we do not pay attention to. At the same time, we would like to motivate them to be more interested in nature not only in Prague, but in all cities and in preserving its diversity, “ says the director Jan Hošek.
