A new kindergarten for 100 children could open in Prague 18 in September
Prague – A new kindergarten for 100 children could open in Prague 18 this September. The PRADAST company is now building it in Škarvadova Street for 68.8 million crowns. The investor of the construction is the town hall in Letňany. This follows from the documents in the register of contracts and from the information on district website.
“I firmly hope that the construction will be completed on time and that the kindergarten will be opened to the children of Letňany in September,” said the mayor of Prague 18 Zdeněk Kučera (YES).
The two-storey building, which will be designed by architect Radek Janošík, will have four classes for preschoolers, changing rooms, staff facilities, a warehouse, technical rooms and a food service. The building will have three entrances, the main entrance will be from Škarvadova Street, and a green roof. A school garden will be created on the surrounding lands, which will be watered with water from the well-known retention reservoirs, as well as a playground. The public will also be able to use it.
The PRADAST company started construction in March. It should be completed within five months of the start of construction, according to the contractual documentation between the companies and the town hall. According to the contract, the company should build a kindergarten with a playground for 56.87 million crowns without VAT. When announcing the tender at the end of 2021, the city district estimated the price of construction work at 57.4 million crowns excluding VAT.
New educational facilities for preschoolers have been planned in the locality for a long time. The zoning decision was issued by the Office in 2014 as a joint decision for the construction of the U Lesoparku residential area. Part of this residential complex was a planned kindergarten, playground and tennis courts. Except for the kindergarten, everything is currently built.
The 18th district is now the founder of seven kindergartens, including detached workplaces and three primary schools, according to information on the town hall’s website.
The city district of Prague 18 forms the cadastral area of Letňany, where about 20,000 inhabitants live. The eighteenth district council has 19 members. In 2018, the ruling coalition was formed by the parties and movements ANO, ODS + Svobodní and TOP 09 and the election group Krásné Letňany.
