Toulouse: The solidarity farm at the Pradettes party
The solidarity farm project carried by the associations and the inhabitants of Pradettes succeeded on Saturday in its festive march, followed by several hundred people. Atmosphere in the streets of this small popular district of Toulouse.
Nothing was missing: the sun, good humor and flowery hats in the crowd. Everything was set up to support the solidarity and ecological farm project located on the last wasteland of 10,000 m2 in the Pradettes district, between Bordeblanche and La Dépêche du Midi. A farm accompanied by an educational garden, intended for schoolchildren, currently in temporary agreement with the City. To support this great adventure started in 2019, the inhabitants and associations had made an appointment for a tour of the musical district. Not forgetting the reason for their presence and the banners to remind them “Let’s keep the field free” or “A wasteland to plant chickpeas”: “We are here to say yes to maintaining this wasteland and this future shared garden at Les Pradettes, insist Elsa and Patrick. It is essential in this area that is too often concreted. It is time to think of another way of life for the city”.
For Christine and André, who came from La Terrasse, “the project is interesting and deserves some effort”. This ultimate green space sparked lots of ideas. So to tell the story of this wasteland and make this Walk symbolic, Hugo, Dorian and Maxence, design students from the Rive Gauche high school, in collaboration with the school of architecture, the students of the Beaux-Arts de Toulouse and the collective of ETC architects, have embarked on the construction of gigantic wooden modules. “The boat in the storm, reminds the City which disrupts the project, the deckchairs are there to regain strength, the lighthouse is the place to take refuge and finally the sharks insisting on the greed of the promoters”, they detail.
“With this farm, children can tell the difference between a fresh and frozen turnip”
Nathalie and Florence, mothers of the district say it loud and clear “we are in overdose of constructions. We want to maintain a green space and try to reduce the damage of global warming. Without forgetting the future generations who through this farm make the difference between a fresh and frozen turnip. It is worth it “. On April 8, the association NATURES Pradettes meets the elected officials for a definitive answer and to know whether or not this farm will always be at the party?
