Pool Libertas Cantù returns from the insidious away match in Siena at Emma Ville Aubay’s home with two important points in terms of salvation. An uphill match for the Canturini, who lost the first set and then found the game again in the second and third. Partial fourth with the advantage of the guests and the recovery in the final of the hosts that sends the challenge to the fifth. In the tie-break the boys of Coach Matteo Battocchio lead from start to finish, with the thrill of an attempt to recover in the final by the Sienese.
Coach Matteo Battocchio lines up Dante Chakravorti on the dribble, Matheus Motzo opposite, Tino Hanžić and Felice Sette spikers, Riccardo Copelli and Federico Mazza central, and Luca Butti free. Coach Paolo Montagnani responds with Riccardo Pinelli to the dribble, Samuel Onwuelo opposite, Simone Parodi and Marco Rocco Panciocco in the band, Andrea Mattei and Andrea rossi in the center, and Alessandro Sorgente free.
The first set starts with the teams in equilibrium in the score until Motzo’s attacking error which grants the first double internal advantage (9-7). An ace from Mazza and again a tie at 10. A pipe from Panciocco, a block from Onwuelo on Motzo, and Coach Battocchio stops everything (15-12). Upon returning to the field, the wall and the Sienese attack are still making the loud voice, and the Canturino coach calls his second time-out (17-12). It is the decisive tear: Emma Villas Aubay played the ball change perfectly, resisted the comeback attempts of the Libertas Pool (Coach Montagnani time-out at 19-17), and closed with Mattei (25-20).
The second set begins in balance, with Emma Villas Aubay trying to escape (8-6, 12-10), but is immediately grabbed again at 8 and 12. Panciocco puts the ball on the ground for the new internal advantage (14-12 ), and remains unchanged until Motzo’s block on Parodi which puts the score in a tie at 18, with Coach Montagnani who wants to speak up. The teams remain paired in the score until the partial of 1-4 which overturns the situation, and Coach Montagnani calls his second time-out (21-23). Upon returning to the field, Siena remains on the heels of Cantù, and Coach Battocchio wants to talk to us about it (23-24). Back to play and Motzo puts the ball on the ground that closes the set (23-25).
In the third set Emma Villas Aubay tries to escape immediately, helped by a mistake by Copelli (6-4), but it is the central Canturino himself who puts down the wall on Rossi who is equal to starting the tie at an altitude of 10. New +2 internal signed by Onwuelo and Panciocco (14-12), but Hanžić puts everything back to 14. Onwuelo brings his team back, and Coach Battocchio stops the game (16-14). Hanžić attacks outside (18-15), but Motzo brings back under him (18-17). It is the Sardinian opposite to put everything in a draw at 19, and Coach Motagnani stops everything. Pinelli walls Seven, and Coach Battocchio wants to speak on (21-19). It seems to be the decisive tear, but Sette’s turn at bat turns the situation upside down again, and Coach Montagnani calls his second time-out (22-23). Copelli makes (attack of 23-24) and undoes (hit on the net by 24 all), and we go to the advantages, closed by a wall of Mazza on Onwuelo (25-27).
In the fourth set the Pool Libertas immediately starts with a rocket hammering from nine meters with Motzo and Hanžić, and an invasion of the wall of the Emma Villas Aubay convinces Coach Montagnani to stop the game (4-7). Copelli walls Mattei and Motzo puts down the attack of the external +5 (5-10). We continue to fight ball on ball until Mattei’s turn at bat which allows Siena to shorten (15-18). E ‘then Ottaviani in attack to bring under him, with Coach Battocchio who wants to speak up (17-19). It is always the Sienese spiker who drags his team, and puts the ace to the ground at a partial closure of 8-1, with Coach Battocchio to stop everything (22-20). It is the decisive tear: the hosts keep the ball in exchange and send the challenge to the tie-break with an attack from Parodi (25-22).
In the fifth and decisive set it is the Pool Libertas starting from a rocket dragged by Hanžić, and Coach Montagnani wants to talk about (3-7). Upon returning to the field Motzo continues to hammer from nine meters, and Cantù stretches (3-9). Ace from Pinelli, and Coach Battocchio stops everything (6-10). Back to play, and Siena shortens again (11-13). Copelli puts the match point ball on the ground, and Coach Montagnani calls his second time-out (11-14). Upon returning to the field, Ottaviani beats the net and hands the victory over to the Canturini (12-15).
These are the words of Coach Battocchio at the end of the game: “It was a very open game: they come from five consecutive victories, so it was really tough to come and play here. There is a lot of regret because in the fourth set we were ahead 18-13, but I am proud of the path these guys have made. I believe that we, players, staff, clubs, are paying for the sins that are not ours, for the particularly unfortunate vicissitudes that have happened to us this year, and that is the real deal. Now we are mathematically out of the Play-Offs, but in the next match we will try to take the necessary points for direct salvation, because I believe that this, this shirt and these guys deserve it. I am very proud of them ”.
