Russian flag at the City Hall of Prague 8: People confuse it with the flag of the city district
Unfortunately, with the outbreak of war in Ukraine, some exaggerated reactions against, for example, Russian food shops are appearing in Prague as well.
What about the “Russian” flag?
One rather comical situation was also solved by the City Hall of Prague 8. A number of complaints began to come to the office as to why the city district was displaying the Russian flag on the City Hall building. “It simply came to our notice then. There have been attacks that the flag of Russia is flown at the City Hall of Prague 8“Said the mayor of the city district, Ondřej Gros, on the social network Facebook.
But the problem was elsewhere. The flag of the city district hangs at the town hall, which has a similar color combination as the Russian one, but that’s all. I have more stripes. “It is the flag of Prague 8, which does not have three stripes, but four. Colors in order from above blue-white-red-blue. The Russian flag has stripes, the order of colors from above white-blue-red. Please note that there is a difference in the number of stripes and the order of colors“The mayor called and added an explanation of what the individual stripes on the flag of Prague 8 mean.
“White and red are historical Czech colors, two blue stripes represent two rivers: Vltava and Rokytka, which can sometimes make us very angry, but have nothing to do with Russia. This flag, or rather the banner, has been approved by the Parliament of the Czech Republic for well over 20 years,“Explains Gros.
The doctor offers hope
In contrast, the Russian flag has three stripes, in a completely different order. The white on the Russian flag symbolizes peace and freedom, the blue color is supposed to be a symbol of permanence and faith, and the red symbolizes the energy and blood that flowed behind the Russian homeland. “So I would ask First take a good look when you are not sure you will use Google. When you find the difference, calm down again. If even Uncle Google doesn’t help you, I’m sure there will be more hope ophthalmologist,” concluded the mayor of the eighth district in exaggeration.
