Giants receive Groningen, Kangaroos host Den Bosch
Telenet Giants Antwerp will receive Groningen on Sunday. After a 1 on 2 in the Elite Gold, it’s money time. “From now on, things have to get better,” said American striker Markel Brown.
cpm, lol
Coach Luc Smout likes a blow to the arm. Thijs De Ridder and Niels Van Den Eynde got the flu, Roby Rogiers (knee) and Matt Tiby (foot) are unsure and Niels De Ridder, who will be out for at least another three weeks, is certainly not among them.
Groningen, which won the cup final against Heroes Den Bosch last week, finished third in the Dutch regular phase with 14 out of 20 and the Elite Gold, just like Telenet Giants Antwerp, started with a 1 out of 2. brown. “If we go there, we have to adapt to their level and way of playing and above all play harder. If they come here, we have to impose our game on them and dominate them.”
Markel Brown looks back positively on his first season with the Giants. “I like being in Antwerp. This is an incredible city. Especially now that it’s getting warmer. I am from Louisiana but live in Texas and am used to high temperatures. Will I still be a Giant next season? I’ll just try to stay healthy this campaign. I’d love to stay, but haven’t spoken to anyone yet.”
Kangaroos Mechelen recover Palinckx
Kangaroos Mechelen confirms the excellent result in the Belgian regular phase in the Elite Gold. There it is behind Ostend in a fantastic second place. In the Elite Gold it opened with a win against ZZ Leiden and won at Landstede Hammers Zwolle last week. “Tonight against Heroes Den Bosch we will recover Mattias Pallinckx, who was out for three weeks with a foot injury,” said coach Kristof Michiels. “We want to consolidate our position in this Elite Gold. A win in our home games against the Dutch opponents is therefore a must.”
