‘You can also reach the top outside Amsterdam’
There is also plenty to do creatively in the north of the Netherlands. The initiators of Open Agency Night think it is time to show what the agencies in Leeuwarden and Groningen have to offer and therefore, just like the Amsterdam Adnight, open their doors once.
The first edition of Open Agency Night (‘for and by lovers’) on Thursday 21 April should show what the north has to offer to creative agencies. Sixteen agencies participate and each agency presents its own programme, such as workshops, presentations and drinks.

The event is very similar to the metropolitan Adnight, where about a hundred Amsterdam offices open their doors to the public every year. In fact, for Open Agency Night, Adnight has even been the great source of inspiration to set up this counterpart. ‘It’s weird that we had something like this up here in the North. We want to show that you don’t come to Amsterdam to reach the top of the agency world. Here too we make exceptionally creative work that can be seen’, says Sander Renkema, founder of bureau Junction, one of the initiators of the event.
Earlier, co-initiator MICA (Media Innovation Campus) spoke at the event Leeuwarden-Fryslân in 2018 expressed the ambition to make Leeuwarden ‘the center of the creative industry’. Open Agency Night should logically contribute to this.
Everyone welcome
Incidentally, the event is not exclusively intended for northerners, on the contrary, says Renkema. ‘Anyone who is curious about the creative industry of the north is very welcome.’
