This year’s Budapest Photo Festival starts
The Budapest Photo Festival will be held again this year, with three exhibitions opening in the first week, and the list of exhibitions will be expanded by twelve next week.
It is with great joy and excitement that we announce the launch of the Budapest Photo Festival today, which will make our capital one of the defining, world-class centers of photography between March 25 and May 8 this year.
This year’s festival is now the sixth in a row, and we are proud that despite the challenging periods, we have been able to develop and renew each year in terms of both the number and quality of exhibitions and programs. In 2022, more than 40 galleries, cultural institutes and museums will join the festival with 50 exhibitions and programs, including many of our own productions, calls for proposals and our curatorial work.
This year is also the first step in an important collaboration. In 2022, the Budapest Photo Festival is pleased to welcome the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center as a new professional partner! This will create a new, closer collaboration between these two important photographic institutions. Curator Gabriella Csizek, an employee of the Capa Center, participates in the work of the Budapest Photo Festival as a co-curator. The highlight of the partnership this year will be the presentation of the contemporary Hungarian photo exhibition EXPERIMENT at the Kiscelli Museum.
The opening exhibition 2022 is a real specialty. The legendary figure of MAGNUM Photos, a British photographer Martin Parr, whose pictures can be seen for the first time in Hungary, will visit Budapest entitled “Beach is the Beach”, finding a worthy place in the patinated building of the Art Gallery!
We can safely say that this is not the only program that will satisfy the audience and then the audience interested in photography. Here are our programs / samples now, visit our website for the full offer, or have an instant week on the social media interface and are guaranteed not to miss anything!
