Easy Life brought a good portion of carefree to Prague
Easy Life is a talented quintet from Leicester, which has been trying to visit us since 2020, when its concert had to be moved. The band has their last year’s debut “Life’s a Beach” outside, of which a large part performed live in Prague. But more than their music, the musicians impressed with their enthusiasm and natural expression.

A beautiful warm spring evening welcomed the British band Easy Life to the industrial premises of the Prague club MeetFactory. She became one of victims postponing the dates, when her announced concert in 2020 finally had to take place until now. The more you could feel how much the band enjoyed contact with the fans. After all, the musicians have only been playing together since 2017 and so far they have not had many chances to go outside their home islands. The program was started by the Slovak group Tolstoys, which started this year very hopefully. In February, she released her second album “Mirror Me”, which alternates her native language with English. Last week, she christened the novelty in Prague with the participation of Berlin producer Drew Deal, who also took on the role of godfather. And now the musicians have even tried to jump ahead of British talent. The choice of guests turned out to be the right one. A stylish affinity combining pop with electronics, but also a warm speech by singer Ely Tolstová helped. She brought a nice plush pink hat for the first part of the concert, which attracted the attention of the audience with its extravagance. In addition, the Tolstoys worked very well with the audience when they tried out the learned choreography with them during the song “Skin Hunger (We Are Human Beings)” and then invited those present to work on another song. Together they created a sympathetically intimate space.

After a half-hour set, the MeetFactory premises took Easy Life under their wings. Their concert was a show of smiles and contagious positive energy. And it gushed not only from the musicians themselves, but also from the boxers, the sound engineer or the photographer. As for the repertoire, the band has nowhere to go. She only released last year’s album “Life’s a Beach”, which she logically played almost entirely, if she added some of her older pieces from the mixtaps. Most of the songs were at the same medium tempo. The whole set was in the spirit of slightly dancing, swinging indie-pop with different doses of electronics. Musically, it was nothing extra special, but the spirit of the concert was in a positive mood. Fans of a number of millennials at Easy Life reacted greatly when their lyrics, danced, sang to the band and smiled at the band, and with their extended smartphone hand they scanned any movement not only of singer Murray Matravers, who wore a funny knitted cap all the time.

The relief came during his stage diving, when he lost his port in the woods. The fun nipple of finding a small black box (but not for sound engineers) resulted in a happy finding after many minutes. The young lady then found the lucky one on the podium with thanks. In the end, there was only one allowance. And the best, because the hit “Nighmares” is the most significant and most successful work of English youngsters and it has just received the biggest opening and exhibition on the best pedestal of the whole set. It was a good point behind the concert, which with its atmosphere managed to completely divert the world taking place behind the walls of the Smíchov club. Whether those close to you (a noisy junkie at a nearby tram stop) or a little further away (we know). Too bad life isn’t always like that easy.
