Aaccelerate the development of vaccines and be better equipped to be able to face the next pandemic, this is the objective of the creation of “Vaccinopolis”, a city of vaccination which has just opened its doors on the campus of the university hospital from Antwerp. The brand new 6,000 m2 building is available to pharmaceutical groups and researchers from around the world who want to conduct clinical trials on candidate vaccines. Vaccinopolis came out of the ground in 14 months. A feat that could never have been achieved without the Covid crisis and the sense of urgency it created. It cost 26 million. Half of it was federally funded. The rest comes from private donors, the Flemish government, the University of Antwerp.
