Sheep torn in Bonstetten | Canton Zurich
This morning a sheep farmer in Bonstetten found 25 torn animals in the pasture. The tracks indicate that they were torn by a larger, dog-like animal. Experts from the canton’s fishing and hunting administration, the canton police and the Zurich Forensic Institute secured the traces on site and took DNA samples. Final results can be expected in a few weeks.
The fishing and hunting administration has already informed livestock owners in the canton of the possible danger to their animals via SMS information service Wolf. It is recommended that livestock be stabled or otherwise sheltered during the night over the next few days.
No danger to the population
The wolf poses no danger to the population. The wolf is a shy animal that avoids humans. If you encounter a wolf, however, you should definitely keep your distance and withdraw.
