Prague City Hall: The city will give 106 million crowns to help the refugees from Ukraine with the city districts
“Prague has managed responsibly and conservatively, so it has resources that can be used. Town hall from the municipality they will receive CZK 2,000 per refugee, according to the number reported on 21 March this year. According to Vyhnánek, it was 49,846 people. The total amount for the town hall in this part will be approximately 99.69 million crowns. In addition, the town hall will receive a contribution of 5,000 crowns, for each bed set up in emergency accommodation. Also in this case, the municipality relies on figures given as of March 21. In total, the town hall will share about 5.79 million.
Further help the city will provide voluntary firefighters, to whom they will contribute a total amount of 485,000 crowns at their expense with the refugee crisis. The deputies also approved that the municipality will pay extra for the accommodation of refugees, adding CZK 140 from its budget to the state contribution of CZK 250 per person per day. The amount in this case will depend on the current number of refugees accommodated.
Opposition representatives criticized the Prague leadership for the way the aid was organized. ODS chairman Zdeněk Zajíček said that the aid was disorganized and there was confusion. He also criticized the city’s actions with the state. “If we don’t find a working mechanism now, we won’t have it in the future,” he said. Mayor Hřib rejected the criticism from the opposition. He pointed out, among other things, that the city launched a refugee assistance center in a very short time, in which they can handle documents and other documents. He then criticized the opposition for not actively participating in the working group.
