The regional coordinator will cooperate with the senior official ad interim and the director-general of BPV, as well as with the other regional institutions. A coordinator has already been appointed in Flanders and Wallonia, whose role entails more than just crisis management in a practice.
From 2009 to February 21, 2020, Pierre Verbeeren was Director General of Doctors of the World. He was responsible for all aspects of the reception of refugees during the previous migration crisis and has considerable experience in this area, notes the Brussels government.
The Prime Minister was unable to attend the Brussels Parliament on Thursday because he is on a mission in the Congolese capital Kinshasa.
