– Was fired by email
On Tuesday, the news came that Estavana Polman and Esbjerg are teaching teams, despite the 29-year-old having one year left on his contract with the club.
A decision she herself wonders about, and which must have come as a surprise, she writes in a press release.
– In my opinion, we were supposed to meet and discuss the situation, and I have tried to arrange a meeting with the club on Wednesday with my adviser, Polman writes.
That meeting should not have taken place, and instead she should have received an email informing her that she was finished in the club she has played in since 2013.
Lately, there has been a bad mood between Polman and the Danish club. In February, she was left out of the squad after a disciplinary case.
The reason must have been that the Dutchman refused to leave the field during the second round of a European match against Croatian Podravka Vegeta. She was thus not in the squad for the subsequent match against FC Copenhagen and for the match after that.
– No one should sit over the team. That’s really the only thing I want to say. We do a lot to protect our culture and our values, and there she has met a little besides the last few days, Esbjerg coach Jesper Jensen explained to JydskeVestkysten at the time.
That she is now leaving the club is not a decision Polman himself wanted.
– I have thrived very well, and I had therefore hoped that it would be possible to find a solution where I could continue to contribute to the club’s success.
– After nine years on the team, this is a very sad day for me. For a long time I have tried as best I can between solving any problems that may have been the club, the coach and me.
