Haaland had to push on Sørloth:
On Tuesday, national team manager Ståle Solbakken told TV 2 that Erling Braut Haaland had been given a new kit number on the national team.
From now on, the superstar will play with suit number nine for Norway.
He did this because Alexander Sørloth, who has had that number, to stop changing suit number.
Well, Sørloth tells about the process that ended with Braut Haaland finally getting his number.
– Erling has been masturbating around that nine for a long, long time. I actually held on to it, but now he came and asked very nicely. Then I thought I would give it as a gift to a good friend, says Sørloth to TV 2.
He points out that Erling Braut Haaland has the same suit number in Borussia Dortmund.
– Was it too late for you to let go of it?
– Nine is not my favorite number, so I do not think I would have given it away if it was. So I do not have the same relationship to the suit that Erling has. I felt it meant a lot to him and then it was okay, says Sørloth.
He does not want to reveal what his own favorite number is, but admits that it is not suit number 19 that he now gets on the Norwegian national team.
– But it’s a number I have a good feeling with. I had it when I played in Denmark and scored a lot of goals for Central Jutland. So I have a good feeling, repeating the power plug of 193 centimeters.
Will probably be right edge
But it is not just suit number 19 from the time in Denmark that Alexander Sørloth is currently brushing dust off. Friday probably awaits a reunion with a position the 26-year-old played a lot in Danish football ..
In recent days, Ståle Solbakken has teased Sørloth as a kind of right wing at the national team’s training sessions. Well, the national team manager confirms that it can be Sørloth’s new position with the flag on his chest.
– I see it as an opportunity, but he plays more right side forward in that case. If you take Alexander’s career, he played very often there in Central Jutland. In Leipzig he quite often had that role. So he is not unfamiliar with that, says Solbakken.
Sørloth himself points out that he also played on the right side in the second round against Latvia.
– I have also played edge in previous clubs, so it is a role I can play well and which I enjoy, he says.
It is likely that Norway will start in a 4-3-3 formation on Friday, where Mohamed Elyounoussi, Erling Braut Haaland and Alexander Sørloth are the trio at the top.
– With Sørloth in that position, you get a good boxing player. You get someone who can get on the back post, and then he has speed. In addition, he can enter the field and shoot with his left foot. So there are a number of advantages there, says Ståle Solbakken.
