One apartment for the Klánovice Children’s Home will be used as shared housing for young adults who have previously stayed in the home, together with university students, and the two apartments will serve as a starting point.
“Getting a start-up apartment or shared housing in Prague is a unique chance for young people from a children’s home to start an independent life, even if they lack family support and financial background. I am very glad that the city of Prague helps young people from children’s homes in this way, “says Dana Kuchtová, the director of the Klánovice children’s home.
One apartment for the Dolní Počernice Children’s Home will be used for the so-called family group and the other apartment for shared living.
“I am very pleased that there is an excellent agreement with the founder. The transfer of family groups to ordinary flats has been operating since 2010 and continues to prosper. I am also happy to deal with the transition of children from the orphanage to independent living. I believe that shared housing will also find its place and will be another support, “adds Martin Lněnička, director of the Dolní Počernice children’s home.
“They consider the provision of shared housing in standard flats to young adults leaving children’s homes to be a key step that will bring them independence and a more natural environment for their further development and transition into adult life. Former clients of children’s homes are one of the groups we want to focus more on in housing policy, “says the councilor. m of Prague for housing and transparency Adam Zábranský.
“Moving another family group to the apartment will allow the children to grow up in a more natural and quieter environment than they were used to. Prague supports this process of transformation of care for vulnerable children in the social, health and educational fields and wants to complete it in the coming years. Following the example of the project from Brno and abroad, the apartments intended for shared housing will help young people leaving institutional care and university students, “says the councilor of the capital. m of Prague for Health and Social Affairs Milena Johnová.
“We have a lot of positive experiences with training and start-up flats for children and teenagers in institutions, shared living is a novelty that we would like to try in Prague, because it is missing here. At both children’s homes that Prague is setting up, our long-term goal is for young adults to experience in a natural environment how best to become independent, ”adds Vít Šimral, Prague’s councilor for education.
In the past, Prague has already leased 12 city flats to the Černice children’s home (of which 4 in this election period), some of which are used for so-called family groups or as start-up or training flats, and 5 flats (of which 4 start-up and one detached workplace). ) to the Klánovice children’s home.
