More than 50,000 people have already passed through the assistance center for Ukrainians in Prague
Fifty-one thousand refugees from a country invaded by the Russian army have already passed through the Regional Assistance Center for Ukraine (KACPU), which jointly operates Prague and the Central Bohemian Region in the capital. Refugees can register and other official necessities connected with their stay in the Czech Republic in one place; there is even a bank representation to set up a Czech account, which will facilitate the payment of contributions.

Prague firefighters, who are involved in ensuring the operation of this assistance center, reminded on Tuesday that on some days the number of arrivals significantly exceeded the number of 3,000 people. Since the beginning of the operation of the Prague KACPU, it was necessary to provide accommodation for 4.4 thousand people. More than two thousand refugees were also transported to centers in other cities, which experienced a minor onslaught; these people could thus avoid the long wait.

Originally, the joint center of the city and the Central Bohemian Region began operations in the building of the Municipal Library in Prague, but it soon became clear that the capacity of the premises was insufficient. The assistance workplace was therefore relocated to the Prague Congress Center. Another move to Vysočany is currently being considered. The congress center, where it now operates, is to be prepared for the event for the Czech Presidency of the European Union.
