Lyon and Groupama Stadium pre-selected by the FFF to host Women’s Euro 2025
To put the odds on its side, the FFF is preparing the strongest possible candidacy. This Tuesday, she unveiled a pre-selection of twelve cities likely to host matches if the competition were to be organized in France.
Among them, we logically find Lyon and the Groupama Stadium in Décines. In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Grenoble is also represented. Le Havre, Lens, Metz, Nantes, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes, Troyes and Valenciennes are the other cities selected.
Next step for the FFF next June with the reduction of this list to eight host cities plus two reserve. It is more than likely that Lyon will be retained.
UEFA will decide in December on the country which will organize the Women’s Euro 2025.
For the moment, two other applications have been submitted by Poland and by a collective of the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway as well as Iceland and the Faroe Islands in support).
The last major women’s football competition organized in France, with the most important matches played in Lyon, dates back to 2019, with the World Cup won by the United States of Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan.
