Prague – The new Icelandic airlines PLAY will start flying between Prague and Reykjavík from May. The connection will work twice a week. The line will be in operation until the end of October. The island carrier informed about it in a press release today. It will be the second regular flight from Prague to Iceland, and in April CSSA will resume connections.
The line will fly from May 5, every Thursday on Thursday. Return ticket prices now start at 4,500 crowns. The connections will be connected to other carrier routes from Iceland to the USA.
“I am convinced that flights between Prague and Reykjavík will be very popular. Iceland is becoming increasingly popular, especially among Czech tourists looking for outdoor and nature experiences. On the other hand, Prague has long been a popular destination for both island tourists and business people,” said the general. PLAY director Birgir Jónsson.
PLAY Airlines started flying last July, handling more than 1,000 flights in the first half of the year and carrying over 100,000 passengers. In 2022, PLAY will fly to 24 destinations in Europe and the USA.
Prague Airport expects a gradual recovery in traffic this year, especially in the summer. Last year, it handled almost 4.4 million passengers. That was only a maximum of a fifth more, still well below pre-coronavirus pandemic levels, when in 2019 the airport handled over 7.8 million passengers. This year, the airport expects the number of passengers to be around 8.6 million for the whole year.
