Competition within the celebration of Earth Day
On the weekend of April 23 and 24, we will celebrate Earth Day at the Prague Zoo, and this year’s edition will focus on snakes. There are a total of five species of snakes in the Czech Republic, but we do not need to be afraid of them, on the contrary, we deserve our attention and protection. That is also why we are running a competition that aims to dispel common myths and spread awareness about the importance of snakes in ecosystems.
During the rich accompanying program of this year’s Earth Day, which will take place on April 23 and 24 at the Prague Zoo, you will find out how fascinating snakes are and learn to recognize individual species of snakes in Czech nature. We will focus on the main causes of the threat to (not only) our snakes and present the possibilities to help them.
Competition for the public and schools:
As part of this year’s celebrations, we are running a special competition. Help us spread awareness about the importance of snakes in nature among those closest to you: family, friends, or perhaps at work or school. Create educational material, paint a picture, compose a song celebrating snakes as fascinating creatures, organize a themed party… In short, let your imagination run wild – there are no limits to creativity!
Document everything properly and send the result (photo, video or audio recording) to [email protected]. We will appreciate the best creations, and if their form allows, we will be happy to present them directly during the Snake Weekend and Earth Day celebrations at the Prague Zoo!
