Murder of Letňany: Tomáš N. stabbed his girlfriend, the Supreme Court sentenced to 18 years in prison
According to the final verdict, the motive for the murder was that the partner wanted to break up with Nálevka, which would cause the man to lose housing and financial assistance. He was facing 15 to 20 years in prison or even an exceptional sentence for a murder committed in a particularly torturous way.
“Imprisonment at half the statutory penalty rate can in no way be considered punishment illegal or disproportionate, “Said the chairman of the Board of Appeal Martin Zelenka last year. The verdict also includes outpatient anti-alcohol and psychiatric treatment. The man is also to compensate the parents and sister of his victim for non-pecuniary damage in the total amount of 1.8 million crowns.
Murder and theft
Unemployed Tomáš N. murdered his wife in a rented apartment on March 3, 2020 in Letňany. He planted 21 wounds to a 31-year-old pharmacist and professional soldier. Tomas N. then collected savings from the account, selected its electronics and jewelry and she drove her first to Ostrava and then to Slovakiawhere he was detained by an intervention unit on March 14.
The defendant basically confessed, but in the past he claimed that he did not remember the act and that he was heavily drunk. But the courts refused – the man acted rationally after the murder, wiped the floor, took a shower and went with the murdered payment card to find out how much money he has on his account.
A suspect in the murder was detained in Slovakia by an intervention unit. He lived in a hotel for several days.
