Combined city deliveries in Antwerp – Business AM
As of today, the companies Danone, Delhaize, Jacobs Douwe Egberts, Pro-Duo, Proximus, Telenet and Schoenen Torfs will bundle and deliver together their orders to retail outlets and private individuals in the city of Antwerp.
The slim bundles of goods on the outskirts of the city immediately translate into a quarter fewer kilometers driven and 90 percent fewer emissions, say the initiators.
The World Economic Forum predicts a 78 percent increase in urban deliveries by 2030.
bpost has been selected to bundle the parcels of the companies in Antwerp and then to deliver them completely emission-free to private individuals and points in the city.
bpost will not distribute single parcels, but also pallets to points of sale. The transport of these pallets will currently still take place with small trucks on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil).
