Listen to a report from the Prague Wardrobe
“We brought clothes, toiletries. Furthermore, towels, sheets, some lozenges for children. Soaps, toiletries, dishes, children’s things, “describe the donated things of some donors.
What the Wardrobe needs most changes every day. Things are disappearing fast now.
“It often happens that donors come by car, take things out of it and people immediately take them apart on the spot,” describes the collection coordinator and Czech Television journalist Nora Fridrichová, who founded Šatník.
“The wardrobe is emotionally enough for those donors to be surprised. They were sad to see the need at first sight. Even though people don’t argue about things, they actually prefer each other. They take things because they obviously don’t need to, “says Fridrichová.
At least something to help
Donors also directly meet the stories of people who need help. A Ukrainian woman who has lived in Prague for a long time also came to Šatník and brought a sister here who fled to the Czech Republic with her children before the war. She wouldn’t feed them herself.

“People who come to our Wardrobe do not choose. They take everything that is currently available, which shows that they do not have access to those things otherwise, “said Fridrichová.
“It simply came to our notice then. We heard that we brought a few things, “says one of the gifts.
“I need to get involved in some way. Everyone on television, in the media, we see the situation in Ukraine. If we can at least help someone who needs it, then I’m happy, “another woman describes the motivation to donate.
“I think everyone should do this. You never know when you will need that help from someone else, ”says another.
