Before the trip to Turin, OL made short work of Dijon (0-3) and kept the lead in the D1 standings.
31 shots to 0. Friday evening, Sarah Bouhaddi spent a quiet evening at Gaston-Gérard against Dijon. The OL goalkeeper had nothing to do in this meeting which was reduced to an attack-defense. Despite the number of chances, the Fenottes did not score “only” three goals in Burgundy thanks in particular to a double of Catarina Macaire. Whatever the lack of realism, the main thing was above all the three points. After the meeting, Sonia Bompastor was satisfied with the result, a few days before the Champions League quarter against Juventus Turin.
“This victory does us good. We are approaching the Juve match with a capital of confidence which is good. We had to win tonight to put ourselves in the best conditions, declared the coach at the microphone of OL Play. Now, we will have to think about recovery and we will make sure to work tactically for this match, but the most important thing is to recover well to have physical and mental freshness.”
Bacha leaving injured
In addition to this victory, which allows OL to maintain a three-point lead over PSGBompastor was also able to count on feedback from certain players such as Sara Björk Gunnarsdottir or Dzsenifer Marozsan, injured for six weeks. Four days before the European clash, everything is good to take for a workforce that has had to juggle the unavailability since the start of the season.
“We are delighted to have been able to find in our squad players who can be invaluable to us, especially in a sector of the game that is the environment where we have been little spared since the start of the season. The returns of Marozsan, Bjork , Damaris too, it’s good, it completes our workforce.”
The only downside in this beautiful Burgundian evening, the exit on injury of Selma Bacha twenty minutes from the end and whose gravity we do not yet know…
