Udženija (ODS): Prague 2 continues to support and assist Ukraine
19.03.2022 8:38 | Press Release
The Prague 2 City Council has agreed to set aside the top ten municipal flats. These town halls equip and reduce for rent to Ukrainian families fleeing the war for rent.
The city district thus caters to those interested in long-term accommodation, which is increasing these days. It has thus expanded its current offer of short-term accommodation with another form of assistance.
As part of immediate humanitarian aid, the town hall has recently reconstructed and equipped an apartment with a total capacity of 60 beds at its own expense and arranged additional accommodation in local hotels and boarding houses with a capacity of approximately 460 seats. The city district also helps with the integration of Ukrainian children into the education system. Fifteen children have recently started kindergartens and 42 primary schools. Where school capacity and staffing allow, children’s adaptation groups are being set up.
“From day one, we have offered the Ukrainian people full solidarity and offered the refugees all-round help. We are looking for all possible ways to make it at least a little easier for the people to whom the war in Ukraine has taken away all the security of life. We provide accommodation, provide social care and also mediate health and psychological care. Nevertheless, to allocate places in kindergartens and schools, our capacities are very high. These days we have also opened the first children’s adaptation group at Botičská Elementary School and others will follow, ”says the mayor of Prague 2, Alexandra Udženija.

The city district of Prague 2 also provided material for the civic initiative in the form of a collection. For this purpose, it has set aside premises in Balbínova Street, which normally serves as a refuge for the Dvojka club for seniors. Moms will find everything you need here: baby diapers, baby food, cosmetics, clothes, but also strollers or toys for children.
The town hall also supports Ukrainian refugees financially. It organizes a financial collection through the Dvojka srdcem endowment fund, for this purpose it has set up a special account No. 5298268319/0800, VS: 24022022. Thanks to the generosity of donors, it managed to collect 120,000 crowns in a short time.
At Monday’s meeting, the representatives of Prague 2 praised the city hall’s efforts to date and unanimously agreed to provide a financial donation of one million crowns to support Ukraine, through the non-profit organization People in Need – SOS UKRAINE.
