Royal Jordanian is back in Zurich and Geneva
Royal Jordanian (RJ) will resume flights from Zurich and Geneva to Amman from April 2nd, 2022. These were suspended for more than two years as a result of the corona pandemic. But now it’s starting again with renewed vigour. The Jordanian airline reported on this at a live event at Zurich Airport in front of partners from the travel industry as well as government representatives and the media.
During the presentation, Karim Makhlouf, Royal Jordanian’s Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the decision to resume flights to Switzerland is in line with the recovery plan the airline is currently implementing. At the core of this plan is the focus on tourism in Jordan. This includes the goal of working closely with Swiss tour operators and travel agencies to increase the number of Swiss tourists to Jordan. Jordan, that’s crystal clear, is a fantastic Middle East travel destination, safe and easy to travel to – and now easy to get to again.
In addition, Karim Makhlouf presented a new five-year plan and Royal Jordanian’s current strategy. In addition to the alleged focus on tourism, this also includes the development of Amman as the main gateway for the Levant region. Royal Jordanian is currently adding
adding new destinations to the portfolio and network connectivity from their Amman hub. “The airline’s vision is to be the airline of choice connecting Jordan and the Levant to the world,” said Makhlouf.
Reachable within a five-hour flight for Swiss tourists, Jordan combines old-world charm and historical and religious sites with a thriving modern country. Jordan offers relaxation at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, as well as great beach holiday opportunities and diving spots at the Red Sea in Aqaba. Historical sites include Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world, and the ancient Roman city of Jerash, one of the best preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world. Religious sites include Bethany across the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized, as well as numerous other Christian and Islamic sites.
