Hanover (dpa) – Were even more men in partnerships violent in the second year of the pandemic? How often do cyber criminals strike? The police crime statistics (PKS) 2021 for the state of Lower Saxony, which Interior Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) will present this Thursday (11 a.m.) in Hanover, provide answers to these and other questions. In the first Corona year 2020, fewer crimes had been registered between the Harz Mountains and the North Sea than since 1990, but there had been more cases of domestic violence. Because of the corona-related restrictions, many criminals were also active in the digital space and cashed in with Internet fraud, for example. Some other federal states have already published their crime statistics for 2021. Accordingly, in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hamburg, for example, the number of crimes fell in the second year of Corona.
