The university course on Environmental Sustainability starts in Siena
The ninth edition of the university course dedicated to sustainability will be inaugurated at the University of Siena on 18 March. A new appointment for those enrolled at the university to explore these fundamental issues for our present and for our future
Come on it reads on teaching page that the Tuscan university dedicates to the annual course, it is an experience “transdisciplinary which deals with providing a solid introductory basis“. Among the aspects that are treated there are obviously those environmental but not only. We will also talk about economy, of the plant legal which concerns sustainability, ofpowerofurban planning and of sociology. It is clear from the vastness of the topics covered that, when it comes to sustainability, we are not just talking about being greener, or Green, in your life but it is about being aware of many things.
“The teaching is part of the University’s growing commitment to sustainability issues, also in relation to the important role within the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network project.”Is still read on the presentation page. “In 2017, the Sustainability course was selected between five best experiences Of didactic on sustainability in Italy from the RUS – University Network for Sustainable Development“. a flagship not only for the University of Siena but for the entire Italian university system.
In total they are planned 24 lessons topics for 48 hours of course that will end with a final exam in the form of a test which, for those enrolled in the master’s degree in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Sustainability, is worth 6 credits. Although it falls within the similar or supplementary courses of this master’s degree, in reality the course is open to all and there is an option to follow it both in presence, the lessons take place in the great hall of the Pian dei Mantellini educational complex, both on line using the Webex platform.

Lessons will start on 18 March and will take place, except on some dates already included in the official calendar, all Friday from 14 to 18 until the last lesson scheduled for Wednesday 1st June.
Among the lessons of great interest are the one given by the teacher Ilaria Corsi which concerns pollution and the loss of biodiversity, a matter to be absolutely taken into consideration when it comes to sustainability.
