Win your tickets for Irrelohe at the Opéra de Lyon
Our Tuesday of the Win this week will allow you to push the doors of the prestigious Opéra de Lyon to see Irreloche, a masterpiece by Franz Schreker staged by David Bösch.
First of all, let’s break down the received ideas. No, opera is not an elitist thing (come on read this to convince you) and despite its bizarre name, Irrelohe (which means wisp in German) is a show within everyone’s reach.
In short, there is no excuse not to be tempted, especially since we are saving you 5×2 places for Saturday March 19.
But what is Irrelohe about?
This is the story of Count Heinrich who falls madly in love with Eva. Problem #1: The girl is already more or less shattered with Peter. Problem #2: A curse affects the Count’s family, causing its members to kill those they love. You can imagine it will end badly (but then really very badly).
This opera is directed by David Bösch, one of the references of today’s staging in Germany. The show promises to be spectacular.
But who is Franz Schreker?
Franz Schreker is an Austrian composer, born in 1978. He quickly met with success with his choreographic pieces. It is even said of him that he revolutionized German opera. In 1920, he became director of the Berlin Conservatory. The arrival of Nazis in power does not suit his business (no luck, he is Jewish). He was pushed out in 1932 and died 2 years later in general indifference. He leaves behind him a dozen epic operas including Irrelohe played on Saturday at the Opéra de Lyon, for the first time in France.
How to win your tickets?
It’s very simple, you just have to complete the following sentence in the comments.
