The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom meets with the Prime Minister of Sweden on 15 March 2022
The Prime Minister met with Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson after the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) summit in London today.
The Prime Minister spoke in Downing Street to the Swedish leader that Britain was in solidarity with our Nordic partners in the face of increasing Russian aggression. The leaders said Putin’s heinous attack on Ukraine had changed European thinking.
The couple agreed that their two nations would further strengthen their work together on misinformation and said they look forward to British and Swedish forces training together as part of the JEF in the coming months.
Both agreed on the need to reduce dependence on Russian hydrocarbons, and the Prime Minister said renewable energy was an important part of Britain’s energy security strategy.
The Prime Minister said that the relationship between Britain and Sweden went from strength to strength and he hoped that the two nations would continue to work closely to increase defense ties, fight climate change and ensure that Putin fails.
