Prague will build footbridges between the Rajská zahrada metro station and the planned railway station – Cysnews
Rada hl. Today, the City of Prague approved the launch of a public contract for the construction of a pedestrian bridge in the Paradise Garden in Prague 14. The construction will bridge the four-lane Chlumecká and railway lines and safely the newly built railway station and adjacent inhabited localities with a metro station. The estimated price is CZK 85.6 million excluding VAT.
“We are continuing the modernization of the Vysočany – Lysá nad Labem railway line. The railway administration will build a new stop here at the Rajská zahrada B metro station. Both stations will be connected by a new footbridge, which is an investment in Prague. Thanks to the new footbridge, people can easily get to the metro station from the railway station, but the footbridge will also connect Chlumecká and Borská streets. Today, this area is divided by railway lines and a turn-off towards the Prague Ring Road. We are also considering that the color of the footbridge could be decided by Praguers in the survey, ” features Adam Scheinherr Square for Transport.
From a structural point of view, these are two lattice steel footbridges and two towers for connecting the height levels at the ends of the footbridges, which will also include lift shafts and stairs.
The length of the footbridge over Chlumecká is almost 50 meters, the railway body spans two more fields with a span of 20.3 and 16.7 meters. The footbridges will be 3.8 meters wide.
The construction of the bridge will solve the problems with the lack of pedestrian connection of the adjacent inhabited localities to the Rajská zahrada metro station on line B and a significant reduction in walking distances. The footbridge will also be the only communication link with the planned railway station, the construction of which has already been started by the state organization Railway Administration. The expected use of the footbridge for the inhabitants of the adjacent areas without taking into account the use for the operation of the railway station is on average 500 people per hour.
Currently, there has already been a permit to issue a building permit and documentation is also being prepared for the selection of a contractor. The estimated value of public contracts is CZK 85.6 million excluding VAT, completion is expected in mid-2023.
