Police have proposed to charge the man who shot an official out of revenge last year
“The file material was submitted to the public prosecutor of the Municipal Public Prosecutor’s Office in Prague with a motion to file a charge. The public prosecutor will now study the case in detail and decide whether to file a charge against the accused with the competent court, or settle the case differently, or return the case to the police authority for completion, “the spokesman described.
Cimbala does not want to provide more detailed information on the matter yet. He pointed out that preparatory criminal proceedings are not public by law. “I will probably specify the qualification and the number of offenses only with information about a possible indictment,” he added.
The sixty-six-year-old man was detained by police in the center of the capital last June, several hours after the shooting at the Labor Office in Prague 2. The official he shot was taken to the Royal Vinohrady University Hospital, where she subsequently succumbed to serious injuries.
The shooter had an illegally held weapon with him. Another weapon – a home-made shotgun – was found in his car.
Police subsequently said the man had confessed. In addition to the shooting of the clerk, he is also linked to the policy of another mixed woman in the Central Bohemian Region, such as an explosion of the raid system and an injury to a police officer in an apartment in Liben, Prague. The incident in Liben was described by the police as an attempted murder.
According to the police, the man’s question showed that he wanted to continue committing particularly serious crimes against the people he had disputed in recent years – family members, officials of various institutions or former colleagues. The motive was revenge for the alleged grievances. He threatened to shoot the official in writing as early as 2016. In the past, he unsuccessfully applied for unemployment benefits.
