Niederglatt: Agricultural tractor crashed on Bahnstraße
Shortly before 11 a.m., a 65-year-old farmer was busy with a tractor in the field next to the Niederglatt – Bülach railway line. According to the current state of knowledge, the tractor ended up on the meadow edge that slopes down towards the track for reasons that are not yet known. He overturned and touched a point in time to this passing passenger train.
The driver of the tractor was able to leave the wreck independently and alert the rescue services. After first aid on site, he was taken to a hospital with undetermined discoveries. There were no injured people on the train. The damage to the train composition is likely to amount to several thousand francs. The tractor was totaled.
The cause of the accident is currently unknown. It is being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police in cooperation with the public prosecutor’s office in Winterthur/Unterland. Because of this accident, the railway line between Niederglatt and Bülach had to be closed in both directions. The salvage work is proving to be challenging due to the known events. The railway line is likely to remain closed until the early evening hours.
In addition to the Zurich cantonal police, the Dielsdorf base fire brigade, the Niederglatt fire brigade, the SBB intervention, an ambulance from the Bülach hospital and rescue specialists were deployed.
