Maia Sandu announces the simplification of the procedures regarding the confiscation of unjustified property in the Republic of Moldova
Yesterday, the Plenum of the Chamber of Deputies adopted a bill that caused a great stir in Romania. Under the guise of combating discrimination, the parliamentarians of power have introduced an article of the appropriate law of public incitement, by any means, violence, hatred to discriminate is punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 3 or a fine.
“Inciting the public, by any means, to violence, hatred or discrimination against a category of persons or against a person on the grounds that he belongs to a certain category of persons defined on grounds of race, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, gender . , sexual orientation, opinion or political affiliation, wealth, social origin, age, disability, chronic non-communicable disease or HIV / AIDS infection considered by the perpetrator as causes of inferiority of persons in relation to others punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years. or with a fine ”, the project states.
The point that has attracted the most attention is the inclusion of politicians and parties in the category of those who should not be discriminated against. Many opposition MPs have criticized the bill. Although they are not represented in Parliament, the PMP leadership is urging the president not to enact the law.
“Open letter addressed to Mr. Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania

Mr Klaus Iohannis, President
PMP asks you not to promulgate the scandalous legislative initiative, adopted yesterday by the Romanian Parliament, which criminalizes incitement to hatred against a person or a group on the grounds of political affiliation.
We believe that freedom of expression is a fundamental value of the democratic society in which we live and that any restriction of a society is slipping away from the principles we have assumed.
Populism and misinformation are not fought through restrictions, censorship or imprisonment, but through the power of example, good governance, and the defense of civil rights and freedoms.
We are strong when we are not afraid of those who want to divert the meaning of democracy and stifle the freedom to express through misinformation. We are strong when we are better than them and we take action for the benefit of the citizens.
For all these reasons, we ask you to send back to the Parliament the adopted bill that criminalizes the crime of opinion on the grounds of political affiliation and punishes him with imprisonment for up to 3 years, “writes Eugen Tomac, president of the Popular Movement Party.
Unfortunately, President Klaus Iohannis has nowhere to go and is forced to enact the law because he has gone through the legislative process once again and was sent back to Parliament for re-examination last autumn.
In favor of this project voted 100 from PSD, 64 from PNL, 16 from UDMR, 12 from minorities and 2 unaffiliated. 49 deputies from USR, 24 from AUR, 1 from UDMR and 1 unaffiliated voted against.
