Eriksen back on the national team – Hjulmand surprised
The case is being updated.
National team manager Kasper Hjulmand had Eriksen on his list when he took out the squad that will meet the Netherlands and Serbia in private matches on 26 and 29 March.
– He looks like himself. I’ve been following him closely. I was recently in London to see him. I saw him in training and matches, and he is in very good physical condition, said Hjulmand, who became the coach of the year in Danish football for the 2021 season.
Hjulmand acknowledges that Eriksen’s comeback comes earlier than he had expected.
– I think the most realistic thing in both our heads had been that he should only be with us this summer, Hjulmand said.

– I do not think any of us expected him to play as well as he does now. So that he can join the national team now, there is no doubt that he is ready for. You only come in if you are one of the best in your position, and that is him, Hjulmand added.
Eriksen has played three Premier League games for Brentford since joining the club. In the last two games he has wasted 90 minutes.
– He has played at an impressively high level. He performs in a familiar way on the field. It is still something that can be improved. It goes without saying, but he plays at a high level, said Hjulmand.
– I saw him in the stadium in the match against Burnley, and he was the best player of the match, said the national team manager.
– A day of joy
Eriksen then signed up for his first assist for the club.
Eriksen has played 109 A-national team matches and scored 36 goals for Denmark. The Danish midfielder fell over in the European Championship match against Finland last summer. He was revived on the field after the dramatic cardiac arrest. Afterwards, he has had a pacemaker installed, which paved the way for him to now resume his career.
The international match against the Netherlands is in Amsterdam, while the Serbia match takes place in the Park in Copenhagen.
– It will be special for everyone. It will be a day of joy. I know he’s going to get a great reception, said Hjulmand.
