Podcast on Swiss football – “FCB and YB don’t even give Zurich a chance to get nervous”
“FCB and YB give Zurich no chance to get nervous”
Why is GC suddenly playing against relegation? Why does the FCZ defeat have little impact on the title race? Where is YB looking for the solution to the injury series? Answers in the “Third Half”.
It’s the same bill, just from two different sides. On Saturday, an ardent FC Zurich supporter calculates what will happen if FCZ loses to St. Gallen and then to the Young Boys as well. Quintessence of the purposeful pessimist: “Suddenly there are only nine points ahead. and then … » On Sunday it is YB fans who, full of optimism, expect in the same direction before the party in Lausanne.
Sunday then shows how theoretical such number games are. FC Basel is still 12 points behind FCZ, who lost to St. Gallen. But he struggles unimaginatively against a decimated Servette like the Young Boys in their 2-2 in Lausanne. Fabian Sangines says aptly in the current edition of our podcast: “YB and Basel don’t give the people of Zurich a chance to get nervous.”
So Thomas Schifferle is sure that Zurich’s 0: 3 against Eastern Switzerland will not affect the title race: “If FCZ does not win the championship this season, it will not be in the next 50 years either.”
In our show we also discuss whether FC St. Gallen, with its clear club philosophy, could be a kind of role model for the other clubs in the Super League. Why the Grasshoppers could suddenly find themselves in relegation trouble after a very solid preliminary round. And whether a cup throw could decide the promotion race in the Challenge League.
