More than 50,000 war refugees from Ukraine arrived in Prague and Central Bohemia
With fewer war-torn Ukraine refugees coming to register and other official affairs on Thursdays and Fridays than in previous days, this trend seemed to continue on Saturday. This is indicated at least by findings from KACPU – the Regional Assistance Center for Assistance to Ukraine – which are run jointly by the capital and the Central Bohemian Region in the Prague Congress Center.

Running out of capacity: Hotels in Prague have offered Ukrainians rooms for 500 crowns per night
If on Sunday the Fire and Rescue Service of the capital Prague reported on Twitter that the joint Prague-Central Bohemian KACPU, already operating in the metropolis, operates a total of 30,625 people, this number is not complete, he actually warned on Saturday evening on the Twitter of the mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates). “I see in the reports that the number of people arriving from Ukraine to Prague is the number of people checked in at KACPU in Kongresák, currently 27,857; in reality, however, 31,802 people are already registered in Prague, “he pointed out. With the addition that for the Central Bohemian Region it was 19,118 people – a total of 50,920.

According to Hřib, the difference stems from the fact that, in addition to the most widely used KACPU centers, refugees also report to other workplaces in the Department of Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior. “Not everyone also registers immediately upon arrival. The registration deadline has now been extended from three to thirty days. Until then, they may simply be here as unregistered tourists. And then about 10 percent of the visitors did not have an address when registering in the first days, so it is not possible to determine the region now, “the mayor of Prague pointed out the complications surrounding the figures.
