Football – TFC: before thinking about Paris FC, the Toulousains will dress up their games
While the Violets are responsible for putting their heads back in place tomorrow against Amiens, the match against the dolphin is approaching.
“Do not sell the skin of the bear before having killed it”, advises the proverb popularized by Jean de La Fontaine. And in the Midi-Pyrénées region, where the bear has found refuge, the latter has all the more resonance. Also, the TFC and its followers would do well to apply it. No, the Violets are not yet in Ligue 1. No, it is not because we have managed a series of five consecutive victories that we can believe ourselves to be safe.
A quick look at the standings and the current situation is obvious. Paris FC (2nd, 55pts), does not intend to let go of the pace of Toulouse (1st, 57pts). And that’s good because the two formations will have the opportunity to fight on April 2 at the Stadium, in a meeting particularly awaited by the followers of Téfécé. The players and the staff, they seem much less in a hurry to do battle with their rivals in the capital.
PSG or PFC?
The match is however in two weeks but the Violets refuse to plan. “Tuesday’s game (tomorrow) against Amiens is more important to get our heads back. And then before Paris, we play Auxerre, at home, ”recalls captain Maxime Dupé.
On the staff side, Michaël Debève – the substitute coach (this will still be the case tomorrow, against the Picards) – in the absence of Philippe Montanier, who tested positive for Covid on Saturday – does not even want to hear about this meeting. “The match for the climb, it’s not in two weeks, it’s the one that arrives on Tuesday”, he says before letting out a funny slip: “We can’t project ourselves in three days, even if the PSG match… the PFC, sorry, it’s really important. His tongue forked, we can imagine… But maybe they too can already see it!
However, if we are to believe coach Montanier’s hopes, Toulouse are still five victories short of the dream becoming a reality. The TFC is preparing to face all its direct competitors in the coming weeks. Auxerre (4th, March 19), Paris (April 2), Sochaux (5th, April 19) and there is one who makes a smile.
Maxime Dupé recalls the good memories of last fall: “It’s against our direct competitors that the climb will be decided. And that’s good because in general, we like them. It worked for us, ”laughs the bald doorman. Auxerre and Sochaux remember this.
