Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games. Krzysztof Plewa without excuses: I gave it my best
– I had a good run. The fact that the conditions were unfavorable – you could only run in the tracks, except for them the ski immediately braked. But it’s good for me, because I can run at the same steady pace. In her free time, the famous American Oksana Masters caught up with me (on Saturday she won the fifth medal at the Beijing Olympics and the 15th one – red). I tried to call her for a while, but she is such a great player that you don’t remember your pace for a long time – she says.
Plewa was looking for no excuses or excuses. As he stated, he has the ability to have everything that he gave (a) the ability to have 14, with himself, with himself and his abilities. – I could look for an alibi in covid, but you have no trace of it. Neither felt nor mentally – I felt great here. Late arrival and late acclimatization did not stop me at all. Oh, I was a bit nervous that the Olympics would pass my nose. But I already had a plan B: to go with the handbike team to the Majorca competition (the left one also practices cycling, I was the European runner-up for handbike – ed.). It was impossible to say, but calmly on the verdict, because the first prognosis will go on that I have no chance that I spoke.
He added that he was running freely, realizing that only a miracle could make a medal. – I was running with a clean hand and did my best. In the race itself it was already cutting off for me, but in the end that’s what it was at the Olympics. Later on, the ranks were no different – he said. On Sunday before Plewa, the last performance at the Beijing Olympics – open relay. – I am ready! Every start here is a dream come true. I promise to do my best again!
Paweł Nowicki with a “wild card”. How the Swedes borrowed skis
Together with him, the blind Paweł Nowicki will also run in the relay race with his guide and coach, Jan Kobryn. Both of you in Beijing thanks to the “Thank you”. In Saturday’s mid-distance run they took 15th place.
– Today we managed to finish the story with a broken ski in the final solution and getting off the track. We publicly thank our competitor with me for lending me the skis, it was a great ride. Currently, the conditions are very Polish, it is difficult to run on such snow. You have to wrestle, you need a lot of experience. It’s nice that we took a lot of it – said Nowicki.
– Conditions that have unused contributions as input, as well as constitute congresses. You have to be prepared for every move, because if the snow is even, you can really go and relax. the muscles are tense all the time, there is no time to rest, full focus all the time – added Kobryn.
How to mention that competitions at the Olympics? – We came, we ran, we checked ourselves. Taking off here will be a great science together. For example, how to deal with such snow. We are better and better at choosing the equipment and choosing smarts. It was important to maintain the atmosphere of the Games, learning to cope with the stress that comes with before the start. Teach this pre-start race to make sure everything is in order, follow all the procedures. All the pre-start noise – contrary to appearances, it is the most difficult to catch – said Nowicki.
“We are on the right path”
Kobrin said that cross-country skiing is a sport for the patient. They have been training with Nowicki for three years, they have had two seasons in the World Cup. – The most important thing is that broadcasting. Both Paweł and my other mentee, Aneta Górska, had the best results in Beijing this year and in their career, Paweł in biathlon, and Aneta in sprint. It gives us hope that it will get better with each subsequent one. We know that for now you still have to train. But let’s get on the right track – said Kobrin.
He distinguished that the results do not include best results, but a percentage loss to the best team. Nowicki, Górska or another with visually impaired young Poles – Paweł Gil with a guide Michał Lańda, are distancing them and chasing the leaders more and more.
Cross-country skiing in non-athletics. With us, each route is different – in Beijing or in Polar Norway, on different snow and conditions. Therefore, we present a loss to create a master – explained Kobrin.
👉 Monika Kukla finished the run at SI, and Krzysztof Plewa – 11th among the runners.

And I added that the global elite is really very tall in the blind. – Let me just remind you that Brian McKeever (he won his 16th Paralympic gold medal on Saturday, he is undefeated since Salt Lake City 2002! – ed.) Can win with able-bodied players. The very fact that we can race him in the same competitions is a lot of joy for us.
Nowicki and Kobryn say that they have been cooperating for three years and are still reaching each other. Still dries up on communication en route, over harmoniousness. – e.g. from improve our driving performance, we are still learning how to go the best. We already have small successes, because we can not be worse, and we want to be better. We keep checking different ways. testing in the future, this may be our strong point in the future – says Kobrin.
– Learning and chemistry between the guide and the player. From year to year, and from month to month, we are doing better. A few months ago, I heard them pass me by and leave me behind my backs, and now I am often next to them, I think that after some time I was able to be my back – says Nowicki.
