Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships: Belgium finishes with 10 medals, including 7 in or
Partners for only three months, Helena Heijens (Acro II Gym) and Bram Röttger (TK Werchter) completed their harvest: after winning the combined exercise and the dynamic exercise, the Belgian mixed pair also won the static exercise, scoring 29,360 points, ahead of Britons Natasha Hutchinson and Dylan Howells (28,940) and Germans Daniel Blintsov and Pia Schuetze (28,940).
Bo Hollebosch (Sportiva Sint Gillis Waas), Lise De Meyst (Ambitious Pro Gymnastics) and Kim Bergmans (Ambitious Pro Gymnastics) won a second title. After winning the combined exercise and taking silver in the balance exercise, the women’s trio won the dynamic exercise with 29,130 points. Portuguese Barbara da Silva Sequeira, Beatriz Carneiro and Francisca Maia (28,210) took silver ahead of Israelis Yarin Ovadia, Meshi Hurbitz and Inbal Zeitounei (28,140).
The men’s quartet Wannes Vlaeminck (Vaste Vuist Lauwe), Simon De Wever (TK Werchter), Jonas Raus (Volharding Boom) and Viktor Vermeire (Sportac Deinze) contained gold in the balance exercise and silver in the combined. The four Belgians this time won bronze in the dynamic exercise, with 27,890 points. Britain’s Archie Goonesekera, Andrew Morris-Hunt, Finlay Gray and Bradley Gold (28,690) won gold, ahead of Israel’s Hen Banuz, Lior Borodin, Amir Daus and Tomer Offir (27,900).
With also gold in the team event won thanks to the results of these three teams in qualifications, Belgium ends these Worlds with seven gold medals, two silver and one bronze. A good omen before the World Games in Birmingham (USA) next July.
