Moddi makes the trip to Nordland in his new Norwegian tour
Last time Pål Moddi Knutsen went on tour, it was Istanbul, London and Santiago de Chile that were on the poster. This time the stops are called Ulsteinvik, Skaun and Mo i Rana. Today, Moddi releases 39 concerts across the country.
Friday 18. March releases Bråtebrann, the long-awaited sequel to Moddi’s fiddler-winning “Kæm va du?” from 2013. With audience favorites such as «Togsang» and «House by the Sea», the senjaværingen toured the country and the beach, and eventually also made an international mark with the big project «Unsongs», where he mediated censored sounds from around the world.
On the new album «Bråtebrann», Moddi has returned home to Senja, and which has changed fundamentally while he has been away.
– It was as if the songs I used to sing no longer corresponded to reality. I sang about rowing in the blue hour, while outside the living room window salmon trailers thundered past on potholed roads. The new album is an attempt to put into words a time that is moving faster and faster in the small communities on the coast of our country, he says.
Moddi now announces 39 concerts around Norway, the longest tour since the banned songs took him to cities such as London, Istanbul and Santiago. This time the stops are called Ulsteinvik, Skaun and Mo i Rana, and where Moddi last toured with a full band and strings from the Trondheim soloists, he is this time all alone on stage.
– During the corona pandemic, I learned to like playing for small audiences and in intimate settings. It is as if both the texts and the message are easier to get across when you are completely alone. In that sense, the pandemic has done some good things too, says Moddi.
